During her more than 15 years in the New York City real estate industry, Becki Danchik has helped thousands of buyers, sellers, and renters successfully achieve their goals. In 2023, she was ranked among the top 4% of Coldwell Banker agents Worldwide. She has worked with her team to complete transactions at every price point and under various circumstances. “I love helping people with one of the biggest decisions of their lives,” Becki says. And given how many of her first-time clients return to her for subsequent transactions, it’s clear that people love having Becki help them.
Becki’s passion and diligence, along with her market knowledge and impressive negotiation skills, have earned her an enviable referral base. This is even more impressive given that she started as an outsider in an industry heavily reliant on connections. “I didn’t grow up in New York City, I didn’t have connections or a family here,” she says. “I was young in a business that people often get into as a third or fourth career.”
Becki grew up in the Boston area. After graduating with a BA in art history and visual arts from Union College and completing a program in film production for visiting scholars at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts, she moved to New York City to work as a photo editor for a stock-photography agency. Becki’s creative background has proven to be as much of an asset as her determination and enthusiasm: She can help buyers and renters visualize how a space will work for them, and as an experienced home stager she places a large focus on design-aesthetics and marketing which helps sellers show off their properties to optimal effect. She has staged homes that were otherwise not marketable and turned the result into the highest possible return for her sellers.
Shortly after gaining her real estate license, Becki was handpicked to work for a large rental firm. She brokered hundreds of rental transactions throughout the city, trained other agents, and is to this day considered a rental maven.
Though Becki still dedicates some of her time to working with renters and landlords —“I enjoy the diversity and fast pace of the rental market”— buyers and sellers make up much of her clientele. With buyers, particularly first-timers, “it’s much more than just looking at listings,” she says. “There are huge emotional and financial considerations. I enjoy guiding someone through that process. It’s very rewarding to help buyers purchase their dream home and sellers maximize their investment.”
Becki’s expertise has been featured in The New York Times, Forbes, The Wall Street Journal, New York Post, Curbed.com, Apartment Therapy and numerous other media outlets. She has also written a book, The NYC Homebuyer’s Guide: Why It Pays to Have the Right Agent, which you can download here.
